GRACE Radio WGRW 91.7 FM Hosts a talk about Christians and Civil Government which aired October 11th - 12th, 2023.

PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

What kind of world do we live in? Paul clearly stated that Christ gave Himself "to rescue us from this present evil age," Galatians 1:3. In this present evil age, Christ rules over the kingdoms of this world by His providence, though humanity rebels against Him every day. We do not yet live in the kingdom of glory that will come when Christ returns. So for the present, the church is an outpost of the kingdom of God. Our commission as the church is not to take over the world by political or military power but to be salt and light. Our goal is not to transform human society nor to separate from our political communities but to build the kingdom of God through the gospel by making disciples, baptizing them, and teaching them to live by the Word of Christ. In this world, our Lord said that His disciples will face tribulation and rejection even as the world rejected Him, our King, John 15:18-21; 16:33. The apostle Peter explains in his first letter that our identity here is as elect exiles, 1 Peter 1:1. We are sojourners in this world, 1 Peter 2:11-12. As Hebrews 13:14 says, "For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come."

Our goal in these broadcasts is to equip Christians to live for God's glory while exiled in this spiritual Babylon, i.e. this present evil age, 1 Peter 5:13; Jeremiah 29. Here are some of the questions that emerge in these conversations: What is the function of authority? Why is the family so important? Where did civil government originate? What is the Christian's relationship with civil government? How does the Bible guide our thinking regarding the Christian Nationalist movement?

Pastor Carlton Weathers of Grace Fellowship (Anniston, AL) preaches on 1 Corinthians 16:13-14.
