PASTOR PROFILES

Pastor Bob St. John

Bob was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1957, saved at the age of six during family devotions, and called to preach at the age of fifteen. In 1980, the Waynesboro Bible Chapel commended him to the Lord’s work and he has since served as a pastor in Virginia, New Jersey, South Carolina, and Alabama. He received a BA in Bible, and a MABS from Temple Baptist Seminary (Dec. ‘06); he also completed further studies at Birmingham Theological Seminary, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Since 1995, he has ministered with the Anniston Bible Church in Anniston, Alabama. Bob enjoys teaching NT Greek and other Bible courses at The Institute of Biblical Studies in Anniston as well as High School Worldview, Speech, Research Writing, and Bible at Anniston Christian Academy.

Bob married Mary Ann Horst in 1980 and they have served the Lord together in local church ministry for twenty-eight years. Mary Ann plays the piano, serves in children’s ministries, and has been Bob’s patient and personal secretary for all these years. They have four children, Jonathan, a 1st Lt. with the 82nd Airborne (Platoon Leader) married to Christina Fair; Timothy, a second year student at The Master’s Seminary in California, married to Jennilee Elliot; and twin daughters, Ruthanne Noel and Candace Nicole, attending Word of Life Bible Institute in NY. After homeschooling for 20 years, Bob and Mary Ann are enjoying the blessing of adult children and being a couple again. Bob often states that their ministry seeks to accord with 2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us; and 2 Corinthians 1:24 Not that we have dominion over your faith, but are fellow workers for your joy; for by faith you stand. His personal ministry goals are to so live1, lead, and teach2 that every

believer becomes a reverent worshipper3, a serving minister4, and a bold witness5 for Jesus Christ, so that the whole church matures in a loving display

of the glory of the Lord.6

My favorite hobbies include woodworking and reading. Some of my favorite books are Pilgrim’s Progress & Grace Abounding by John Bunyan; Holiness by J.C. Ryle; The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer; Paradise Lost by John Milton; Agape Leadership by Peterson & Strauch; Moby Dick by Herman Melville; Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe; Sharing the Truth in Love by Ajith Fernando; etc.

1 1 Timothy 4:12 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

2 1 Timothy 4:11 These things command and teach.

3 1 Timothy 3:15 but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 1 Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

4 1 Peter 4:10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God

5 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
