Hampton January Update
NO BABY YET! L Still waiting…
We had a very relaxing Christmas as a family. We have been trying to keep ourselves busy the last few weeks to keep our mind off of the WAITING! It has been neat the peace and patience the Lord has given us through this time. We are SO ready to see our little one’s face and HOLD him, BUT we have not been overly frustrated at the wait either… there are definitely people out there praying!!! THANK YOU! It is also amazing the energy and good health the Lord has blessed me with these last few weeks… DEFINITELY the LORD!
Rainy season started up this last week so that has helped SO MUCH with the heat and making things bearable! …another PRAISE!
The Lord has also been protecting us…
We experienced a kitchen fire the other day… thankfully it had nothing to do with my culinary skills! J With rainy season comes wind. A gust of wind came through the kitchen window and knocked the kitchen valance off the window… right onto the stove where I had a pot of water boiling. Praise the Lord it only resulted in the loss of my pot holders, valance, a few odd burnable things that were sitting on the counter and some pretty big singes on the counter and floor. Porter was able to get it out pretty quickly. We praise God for His protection over us! A family here in the ex-pat community lost their entire home to a house-fire the other day… although theirs appeared to be the result of foul-play.
Well, keep praying that the baby will come SOON! J Not long after he is born we will be traveling to Jakarta to get all the necessary paperwork done for his passport and VISA. We are also hoping to meet up with my parents and brother while we are there. (Please keep them (Scott and Vicki Hatfield) in your prayers right now as they pack up and say their good-byes over the next few weeks… they are coming to work with New Tribes here in Indonesia! Lots of adjustments ahead as they get settled in and get used to being students once again as they learn the Indonesian language. Pray also for my brother, Jordan as he attends a “real” school (not home schooling) for the first time!)
An update on the Arintap…
The 10 year old boy that came out with the guys (Jono) is doing MUCH better. He has healed up nicely, however they believe the bullet is still in his chest and “close” to his heart so they have cautioned him to not over-due it in the next few months. It ended up being a head-guy from our village that came out with Jono and not his dad. This man (Petrus) and the little boy come over a couple times a week to our house to talk on the radio and let the people in our village know how they are doing… their flights keep getting canceled. Yesterday he came over and stayed awhile afterwards talking to Porter. Something came up about lawn-mowers so Porter asked him if he wanted to try one out… “SURE!” he says! J It was kinda comical watching Porter and Dave out there showing Petrus how to push the mower around and showing him how it works! …lots of new things they are being exposed to with us coming in… please pray that we would do ALL to the glory of God and be wise and careful in the things we choose to bring into the tribe with us. They are watching us through a completely different grid than we see things!
House-building…
…has stopped for a short bit as our two families take a much needed time to regroup and remember what it is like to be a FAMILY again for Christmas (and for us waiting on baby to come). Williamsons have a couple guys coming from the States in a few weeks to help them with their house while Porter and I are getting the baby’s paperwork done and adjusting to a family of 6. The plan after that is for Porter to go back interior the first part of February to start laying the foundation for our house and getting things prepped to build and then mid-February we have some guys from our home church in Tennessee that have volunteered to come help Porter get our house built! We praise the Lord for these dear friends of ours and Williamsons who are willing to give of their time and finances to come and give us an “umph” in getting our houses built so we can get moved in and start language study! Not much else to report on… our next update should have news of the newest little Hampton! J
We love and miss you all! Praying each of you had a blessed Christmas season filled with JOY, HOPE and LOVE of the promises our Savior has given us! I read through Peter this morning… what an encouraging book! May you rejoice in those Great and Precious promises!
In His Hands,
Lexie for the fam.
